Dear School of Music Alumni:
New Year’s Greetings from your alma mater! I am writing to update you on several items as we begin the winter quarter at OHIO.
IN MEMORY: The School of Music sadly notes the recent passing of Howard Beebe, Professor Emeritus of Violin and Al Horsky, an alumnus and one of OHIO’s outstanding teachers. A concert will be presented in the spring by several of Professor Beebe’s former students and colleagues. Please join us in saluting the contributions of these men to music in our state.
RECENT ALUMNI EVENTS: Our Fall 2010 HOMECOMING Alumni Reception and Bobcat Alumni Big Band Jazz Bash were a success with more than $500 raised for jazz scholarships. We will notify you as soon as Fall 2011 Homecoming dates are set so that more alumni can plan on attending. 2010 AMTAS CONFERENCE: More than 30 OU Music Therapy alumni, current students and faculty attended a reception sponsored by the Society of Alumni & Friends in Cleveland.

NEW SCHOLARSHIPS: We are pleased to announce two new scholarship endowments: The Ira Zook Memorial Scholarship in Voice, established by John & Jane Woodrow in memory of Dr. Zook, the esteemed professor of voice and founder of the Singing Men of Ohio; the David E. Durham Scholarship, established by Mr. Durham to benefit students in piano and/or organ.
